Young Artist aims to encourage young people to use contemporary or traditional methods of art to express their creative talents.
Cooking amongst young people is a valuable life skill. Sponsored by Filippo Berio, contestants prepare and present a three-course meal within a pre-set budget and time limit, which is judged by an expert panel.
The environment remains one of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus, and we are committed to working with our communities to protect the areas we call home.
Music is an international language and we encourage talented young people by providing this opportunity to demonstrate their musical skills.
Photography is a talent and an ever-popular art form. Entrants submit three photographs on a theme in black and white or colour, along with a description of the inspiration for their photographs.
A flair for creative writing is a special gift and this competition promotes and encourages the work of young people who show talent. The winning writers are subsequently published in Rotary magazines.
Many of our Rotary Clubs hold a heat of the Primary Schools Quiz where local schools participate in a competition for pupils in P7. The winners of the local competition then go on to compete with the winners from other Rotary Clubs in a wider area.
Technology Tournaments are one-day events for multiple teams of 4 students to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) by collectively solving a previously unseen technology task.
Rotary also offers junior Technology Tournaments for younger pupils in partnership with the Rochester Bridge Trust.
We encourage speaking and presentation skills in young people and this competition showcases superb quality speakers.

It is accepted that parents/guardians should, under normal circumstances, have reasonable opportunity to take photographs, digital or video recordings of activities or significant events involving their child/children. Rotary cannot guarantee that other parents/guardians/family members in attendance at Rotary events will not take videos/photographs of children and protected adults and share these or upload them to social media platforms. However, we will ask for photographs taken during an event not to be shared on a public account on a social media platform, or ask people to gain permission from the parent or guardian of children under 12, or from young people themselves over 12, before sharing photographs and videos that include them.
