Fellowship is a hugely important part of being a Rotarian. We have weekly meetings, prepare and participate in local fundraising events and spend time with our Rotarian friends at social events. But there is much more to Rotary Fellowship than that! Rotary Fellowships are groups of Rotarians, Rotarian spouses and Rotaractors who join together to:-
Rotary fellowships are broad.... from caravanning, cricket, golf, music, fishing, bridge, bowling etc. to more diverse topics such as stamps, old and rare books, doll lovers - to name but a few.
Fellowships are full of Rotarians who are enthusiastic about their hobby or profession, and there are 65 operating around the world. A list of existing fellowships is available on line Rotary Fellowships or contact the District Fellowship Chair.
Being part of a fellowship provides opportunities for Rotarians to make lasting friendships around the world. They also serve as an incentive for attracting new members and retaining existing ones.
The District Fellowship chair promotes fellowship in all clubs in the District by increasing their awareness and knowledge of fellowships, by promoting opportunities for fellowship and sport, and by maintaining a regular communication with Clubs. The chair will be assisting clubs in an understanding of Friendship exchange opportunities, and encourage them to get involved in Gavel challenges.
We also want to encourage clubs to promote fun and fellowship within their club. We will be sending out a questionnaire to every club to ask for Rotarians who may be interested in becoming involved in Rotary Fellowships. We would like Club leads on any fellowship sports, caravanning, music etc. someone to keep me informed of any fellowship events held by the club and also worldwide.
