From Responding to Disaster Risk Reduction”

Niall will speak about his career in humanitarian and development work over his 30 years in the field how he became more engaged in the health prevention side of his work. Specifically he will detail the term ‘Disaster Risk Reduction’. Niall will also speak briefly about his work on his work with academic institutions which ties in nicely with his overarching career and personal experiences.

“Environmental Health – A Brief Synopsis”

Dominic’s 25min presentation will cover his experience as a Climate Reality Leader and detailing climate – health risks. He will briefly speak about the profession of Environmental Health and his current role in South Dublin County Council. This will cover areas that Dominic and Niall are currently enforcing such as noise and air pollution, housing and planning submissions.

Niall Roche – Brief biography:

Niall is an Environmental Health professional currently working as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) in the HSE. Prior to this he spent 30 years working in humanitarian action and development all across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East not only responding to disasters (floods, storms and epidemics for example) but working to reduce the risk of disaster across the emergency cycle. In addition, Niall holds a number of roles in academic institutions with the objective of educating the next generation of global/public health professionals on the value of prevention by addressing environmental determinants of health including climate change.

 

Dominic Foley – Brief biography:

Dominic is an Environmental Health professional currently working as an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) in the HSE since November 2019. He currently works on behalf of South Dublin County Council on a number of environmental health local authority issues. Prior to the HSE, Dominic worked as a food safety consultant and became a Climate Reality Leader in the summer of 2020 where he undertook a training programme developed by former US Vice President Al Gore.

Rotary Dublin Central and Kitengala Primary School water project

thanks to the good partnership water project of Rotary's Kitengala Club in Kenya and our club. Water is the source of life and was found on 12 August 2023 in 160 meters. It will now nurture 750 school children every day of school.
