Seniors’ Cream Tea brings the community together

On Saturday afternoon, 19 September, Witney Rotary welcomed 55 local guests to Madley Park Hall for another of our much-loved regular events for local seniors.

The afternoon was all about friendship, conversation and bringing people together. Rotarians also provided transport for guests who needed it, helping everyone who wanted to join us to enjoy the occasion.

And, of course, there was plenty of food! An impressive 168 scones were served — and every single one was eaten.

Guests were brilliantly entertained by Eynsham Ukuleles, including Witney Rotary’s very own ukulele players Roger Booth and Steve Holborough, who helped create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

Events like this are a real team effort. Many Rotarians volunteered their time, from providing transport and preparing the hall to serving refreshments, welcoming guests and making sure everyone was well looked after.

A special thank you goes to Chas Simpkins and Theresa Rees, whose tremendous organisation and commitment year after year help make these occasions so successful.

It was a wonderful afternoon of friendship, service and community — and a great example of Rotary in action here in Witney.
