Zoom Meeting - Councillor Jane Doughty, Mayor of Witney

Mayor of Witney joins Rotary for lively and open conversation

Witney Rotary welcomed Mayor Cllr Jane Doughty to its monthly Zoom meeting on Monday 7 September for a lively and wide-ranging conversation about the town, the role of Mayor and some of the opportunities and challenges facing Witney.

The Mayor spoke openly about her experience in the role, meeting people across the community, supporting local businesses and listening to residents. The discussion also touched on some of the more difficult local issues, including the disruption caused by current roadworks. But the overriding message was an extremely positive one: enthusiasm for Witney, its people, businesses and community.

Members heard about the huge variety of people, organisations and activities the Mayor encounters across the town, and her determination to be visible, approachable and proactive.

It was an enjoyable and refreshingly open discussion, and Witney Rotary would like to thank the Mayor for taking the time to join us.
