Saundersfoot

Many people ask, what is so special about Saundersfoot?  It is the jewel on the south coast of West Wales.

The local people are welcoming, the incomers are made to feel at home straight away, there is a good mix of people from Wales, England and further afield. It is situated in that part of West Wales known as 'Little England Beyond Wales'.  Nearby towns of Tenby and Pembroke have long histories, back to the origins of the Tudors, and the coastline of Pembrokeshire is a match for any in Britain.

Saundersfoot's own history is more recent; until around 1930 it was the centre of the West Wales coal mining industry that provided the best quality anthracite, a clean-burning smokeless fuel which is rumoured to have been the only coal which Queen Victoria would allow on the Royal Yacht.

Since the collieries closed the area has become a magnet for holiday-makers, keen to enjoy the clean air, clean beaches and clean water. There is a strong local community with many clubs and groups amongst which the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot are a prominent and respected group.
