RYLA Camp Rotary Youth Leadership Award |
A 6 day camp where youngsters from 15 – 18 who have been interviewed and selected by a sponsoring Rotary Club are set a series of tasks and at some time during the week will have to assume a leadership role. Very worthwhile. |

An extinct mine which is turned into an extended Xmas Grotto. For the younger children |

Surfing Lessons |
2.5 Hour lesson on the basics of surfing with qualified instructors |
Ice Skating Cardiff |
An outdoor ice skating rink in Cardiff where youngster can have an hours activity |

Xmas party |
In a hall given free by Newport Gwent Rugby Club |
Bay Island Cruises |
A high-powered cruise around the Bristol Channel in an inflatable boat. Kids love it |
Makeovers

A local Hair and Beauty salon gave two girls a makeover which they thoroughly enjoyed |
Langtons |
A fellow Rotarian put on a Sunday afternoon get together for 74 Young Carers from various projects in his own restaurant. A wonderful event |
Bristol Zoo outreach |
A visit with animals from a local zoo with time to interact with the animals and have some information about the animals and animal welfare issues |
Newport Transporter Bridge |
A visit to Newport’s unique 100 year old bridge across the river Usk. Including walking across the top 180 feet above the river |
Sennybridge Army range. |
Through a fellow Rotarian 12 youngster visted the Army’s training area in The Brecon Beacons. The visit included firing live ammunition and taking part in a training exercise. |
Young Carers Festival |
Three Day get together for 100 Young carers at Durdbidge near Southampton organised by The Children’s Society and the YMCA |

A one day visit to west Wales |
Butlins Camp Minhead |
A one day visit with included use of 90% of the facilities |
GoApe |
A high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides up to 40 feet in the trees |

Maes Ebbw is a school in Maesglas Newport especially for those children who through mental emotional and/ or physical disability are unable to attend mainstream schools. The children’s and the school’s needs were visible.
