CHARITY FASHION SHOW FOR LIVING MEMORIES GROUP
Kathy Gittins Designer Wear operates from Cowbridge, Pwllheli, Welshpool and for the last four years from a boutique in Narberth High Street. She recently contacted Rotarian Mary Adams, chair of the Living Memories Group (LMG) offering to host a fashion show and raise money for the group which is run by volunteers to provide entertainment and stimulating activities for persons with Life-limiting ailments or Dementia and persons generally living lonely lives.
Kathy’s fashions are well known in the area and the show turned out be well-supported by over 100 people. It was a huge success. Kathy and her staff organised an ensemble of 18 lovely models of various age groups and sizes to display the wide range of designer wear which is sold in all the boutiques.
The stand-alone LMG was set up by the Narberth & Whitland Rotary Club but it is now run solely by volunteers from the area. Such fundraisers are vital to the success of the LMG which receives no government or council funding. So every penny raised is hugely appreciated by the Treasurer Mr John Llewellyn. Shortly after the event John was pleased to announce that LMG had now been officially registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. Some of the trustees of the group also helped out on the night at The splendid venue of The Plas Hotel Narberth.
A short video was played on the large screen to give an insight into the various activities which take place in the Narberth Museum and the local Primary School.
The catwalk was kindly loaned by Head Teacher Mrs Nia Ward of the Narberth Primary School and it was manhandled to and from the event by a few Rotarians and members of the “Elderly Brother” musical quintet on transport very generously supplied by Mr Guy Allam of A1 Servicing, Narberth Bridge.
President of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Tony Ensom, said: “A very big thank you to Kathy Gittins and Mary Adams who organised the whole evening, Helen and her Kathy Gittins Narberth fantastic team, the fabulous glamorous models, gorgeous Maureen who worked tirelessly back-stage organising 18 models! The most amazing enthusiastic gorgeous audience, the wonderful ladies of the LMG for feeding the models with the most delicious food, Plas Hyfryd and Tim the manager with his fantastic tolerant team of colleagues! and, stunning DJ Rotarian Yvonne Llewellyn in charge of the background music”.
Kathy Gittins also summed up thanking the charming handsome gentlemen in the their formal black ties and Dinner suits who were responsible for cat-walk duties and serving Prosecco along with entertaining the ladies and the audience so gallantly. She also credited the beautiful photographer Maxine for snapping hundreds of photographs all night long, and also very big thanks were given to Mary Adams for her additional spectacular Power Pix Photography.
A grand sum of £1600 was raised at this marvellous event.
