ROTAKIDS NARBERTH AND ROKO 2O KENYA
The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland is delighted that two principal educators met in May at Narberth Primary School to discuss their various different roles in education.
Nia Ward, Head Teacher at Narberth School, and Tracey Neale, Principal at Roko 20 Academy in Kenya, had a lively discussion exchanging ideas on their respective educational establishments.
The Narberth Rota Kids presented Tracey with gifts of Welsh Lady Dolls that they had made to take back with her to Africa to show the Roko 20 pupils.
They discussed a number of issues and she had a tour around the school. Narberth Rota Kids are going to organise to send her a video of the children talking about positive praise and the benefits of making mistakes and then learning from them. Sadly this is
problematic in the African culture where corporal punishment is still in operation - even at school.
In the Narberth Rotary Club’s Assembly, where forthcoming charity programmes are discussed, it was agreed by the members present that they wish to continue their involvement with ROKO 20.
