Just before Christmas, following on from their “Meals on Wheels” duty around Narberth some of the Rotarians from the International and Community Committees of Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club visited Narberth CP School to collect shoes for the "Operation Flip Flop".
This is a Campaign for the school academy ROKO 20 in Kenya. Children from the Narberth CP school have collected Flip Flops and Crocs for the school in Kenya whose children often get the disease Jiggers. Having the shoes as a barrier prevents the insects laying eggs in the children’s feet.
The Head teacher in Narberth Mrs Nia Ward had previously met the main organiser from the Kenyan School to understand the problems experienced in Roko 20 and she was pleased to encourage her pupils to help those in need as part of the welsh curriculum for international and world understanding.
The Rotary Club is also grateful and offered thanks to The Retail Outlet Jellyegg in Narberth for donating some of their new Crocs stock.
Rotarians Yvonne and Mary were later
joined by Rotarian Ian and they then visited Dolyfelin Residential
