In the Rotary District 1150 (southern Wales) Area 3 quiz, Llantwit Major beat Maesteg to earn a place in the final, which will be against Bridgend or Cowbridge. Using Zoom, Bob Wilson (Cowbridge) posed a great set of 60 questions with accuracy and humour, which was matched by the competitors from both teams. The most intriguing round included abbreviations commonly used in text messaging: Maesteg’s youthful team members seemed more familiar with these than Llantwit’s, who were less tech savvy. The lead changed hands several times and the margins were small, though Llantwit did well on Anatomy and History. There was also a (muted) audience of other Rotarians who also enjoyed a lighthearted and very amusing hour online on an otherwise dull and windy lockdown evening.
