Llantwit Major’s Interact Club held a successful evening of entertainment at the Llantonian Hall last week. Senior students of Llantwit Major School who run the club with help from our Rotary Club gave an evening of songs from the shows plus instrumental pieces all to a very high standard.
The evening was introduced by Interact President Sophie Moore who was also one of the entertainers. She thanked her team for all the help received during their year and before most leave for positions in higher education. This year the charity that Interact had chosen to support was the Ty Hapus Day Care and Support Service for people with dementia diagnosed before the age of 65. The organisation provides activities for sufferers by offering help with hobbies and the opportunity of socialising with others in a supportive group setting.
Following the wine and cheese refreshments those attending were able to enjoy a fun bingo session, wonderful entertainment by the students and a generous raffle. At the end Sophie was able to tell the audience that £485 had been raised for their chosen charity; this was rapidly made-up to £500 by an appreciative member of the audience. Jeff Robinson from our club thanked and congratulated members of the Interact Club for a splendid achievement. He said that the school’s Interact Club was a credit to the town for which we can all be proud.
