The club celebrated the start of the new Rotary year with a service of thanksgiving held at St Cattwg’s Church Llanmaes. Amongst those attending the service were the outgoing President, Dr David Rogers, and the new President, Charles Anderson.
The traditional service was conducted by Benefice Reader Sue Moll with organist Mrs Jan Jones. After the service photographs were taken in front of the newly restored mediaeval preaching mound in St Cattwg’s churchyard.
Rotary Club members and partners later gathered at their regular meeting place, West House Hotel, Llantwit Major for dinner and the formal handover. Also attending the dinner was the President of Llantwit Major Probus Club Mr John Clark who was accompanied by his wife, Lynda. Before handing over the presidential chain of office David Rogers thanked club members for their support during the year with a special thanks reserved for his wife, Michelle and wished his successor well for the coming year. New President Charles Anderson’s first job was to present David Rogers with his Past-President’s pin with bouquets of flowers to Michelle and to his own wife, Mary.
