Quiz win for Llantwit Major

The quiz team for Llantwit Major met the Dinas Powys team for the first round of the Area 8 quiz, on the evening of 9th October. There was excellent support for the Llantwit team from around 15 members and friends, but it is uncertain whether they just turned up beacause they knew it was a curry night. The event was held at the St Andrews Major Golf Club as was the same event last year.

The Llantwit team comprised Gareth Rees, Anthony Pugh and team captain Tom Carnduff. In a total of 10 rounds set by quiz master Bob Wilson (Cowbridge), Llantwit managed to keep a lead through most of the rounds, but received a big boost when playing a specialist round on nautical matters, something that "Captain" Tom knew something about. As usual both teams were dreading the Rotary round but actually managed to answer several of the questions correctly - this must be a first! The final score was Llantwit Major 43 and Dinas Powys 29. Llantwit go on to play Barry Vale on Monday 22nd October.
