For the past twenty five years, with the single exception of 2008, the Cwm Garw Male Voice Choir has visited Llantwit Major at the invitation of the Rotary Club to entertain pensioners. They did so again this month when they held a concert in the Llantonian Hall where an audience of over fifty listened to a selection of traditional music, hymns and excerpts from musicals. The club's President Elect, John Clarke, welcomed the choir and reminded the audience that the Cwm Garw Choir were themselves celebrating their fiftieth anniversary this year. Three of the original choir members were still part of the ensemble. The event was led by their conductor Brian Young with accompanist Margaret Rich. This year, choir soloist Allan Walters was also joined for the first time by two young singers who are making a name for themselves, Phoebe Lewis from "Only Girls Aloud" and her brother Adam Lewis who has featured in numerous musicals. Conductor Brian Young said that the Llantwit Major concert had become an important part of the their itinerary and was an event they thoroughly enjoyed doing. John Clarke, in thanking the choir for once again entertaining so wonderfully, had great pleasure in inviting them back again for next year.
