On Friday afternoon 13th June Llandeilo Rotary Club hosted their Charity Luncheon and Community Awards at the Civic Hall, Llandeilo.
This event was introduced by President Kevin Sivyer in his year and replaced the Ploughman's Lunch.
The luncheon was well attended by some 90 people from Llandeilo and surrounds & the afternoon started with songs from the children's choir of Llandeilo County Primary School fittingly singing songs from the First World War.During the lunch the Rotary Community Service Awards were presented. A total of 8 individuals were presented with awards for their contributions to their local communities. Following an introduction from President Kevin Sivyer and few words by their proposers the certificates were presented by both the present Mayor of Llandeilo Councillor Neil Craven-Lashley and immediate past Mayor Councillor Dawn Wallace.
This was followed by an auction conducted by auctioneer Roger Phillips. A total of 21 lots were auctioned & items varied from an excellent selection of Sunday Lunches, free will writing from two firmsof solicitors, a day's fishing on the River Tywi, hand carved sticks,a months free gym membership, a chauffeured ride in a 1930s Bentley for two to lunch, lunch for two with the President and half a days gardening.
