We meet Sherpa Dawa from Classrooms in the Clouds at the Queens in Ludlow

Meeting up with CITC in Ludlow. From left Hazel, Shaun and Sherpa Dawa plus Rotary members

Members of the Knighton and District Rotary Club had the pleasure this week of meeting Sherpa Dawa who updated us on the progress made recently by the educational charity Classrooms in the Clouds.

This is a Charity that helps improve existing schools in remote Nepalese villages, often by-passed by Everest mountaineers. CitC sponsors or has sponsored over 20 female teachers.  They build or rebuild classrooms that are earthquake resistant using local materials and workmen. They are always working to improve toilet facilities which encourages improved hygiene in schools, especially for the girls.

We have been supporting CitC for over 10 years now, and will continue to support their efforts to improve the quality of life for those living in the remote regions of Nepal.
