Following a charity auction held in Presteigne in the summer, President Chris chatted to the auctioneer Dan Price and suggested that we do a joint charity auction in the spring. Dan was very enthusiastic and came tonight to explain the concept to Rotary members. The idea is that each of the four charities ( 2 Young Farmers Clubs, the Samaritans and ourselves) source 10 items plus sell tickets so that there were a minimum 40 items to be auctioned. The venue is TBC but at the last auction the charities raised £1000 each. The concept was broadly agreed by members but it needs to be confirmed ( as well as dates and venue ) at the next Council meeting. Should be a great evening though as Dan will be an exciting auctioneer!
