Dinner and speaker at the Baron

Wed, Apr 24th 2019 at 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Tonight we welcomed Beth Llewellyn from Village Water, a charity encouraging self-help in villages in Zambia and Mozambique.

We were very pleased to welcome Beth Llewellyn from Village Water to come to speak to us. We had read about this charity in a recent Rotary magazine and UK aid were also offering to double any donations so we felt we had to support them. We donated £500 and Beth thanked us and explained how the money was used in villages in Mozambique and Zambia to educate communities about safe water and hygiene. Once the locals were aware of safe practices a well was installed. The local people were then trained in maintenance, installation and water hygiene as well as having to install their own latrines and "tippy taps" so that the water would be correctly utilised and hygiene and health became a way of life. You can see from the series of slides above ( taken from Beth's inspiring talk) that Village Water has transformed the lives of many villages in remote areas. We are proud to support the charity and thanked Beth for her enthusiasm. It is good to know that any donations are going straight to support communities and encouraging them to be totally independent. You can read more about Village Water here.....
