Lunch meeting at Ffrydd House Knighton

We enjoyed the company of our District Governor Chris and wife Brenda during one of our informal club meetings at Martin and Margaret's home, Ffrydd House in Knighton. President Dorothy completed the business of the day quickly with the good news being that Knighton Primary School have agreed to plant crocuses for Rotary's End Polio programme - only two countries now have polio cases, at a rate of one per day, which that is down from 1000 cases a day in the 1980's. Great achievement and we are this close to ending polio for good. Thank you to the school for supporting our efforts. PP Clive also confirmed that he has booked our Young Musician concert for November 29th at the Presteigne assembly rooms....  

DG Chris gave a brief talk as he had removed quite a lot of his normal spiel because we are doing all the right things. He mentioned the above facts about polio and also emphasised the need for new members. He explained how Rotary needs to change, and that satellite clubs are being formed across the country of working people who meet in a cafe or pub to discuss their work for the local community. Also of course eclubs that meet through conference calling or by other means to fit in with their busy lives. All very interesting....

Thank you again to Martin and Margaret for their hospitality and great food, along with the good company of our fellow members. We raised over £60 from this enjoyable meeting for our charity account.....
