We were pleased to hear from Kim and Sheila re their trip to the Rotary International Conference in Sydney .....
After a pleasant meal and good banter, plus a bit of business re the Knighton Show stall, Kim and Sheila gave a fascinating presentation. They were thoroughly impressed with Australia, Australians, Rotary in Australia and the Conference itself.
They started off on Perth with a motorhome for 10 days and saw some of the coastline ( and dolphins ) travelling the distance from London to Newcastle every day. It is a big country!
They then flew to Alice Springs to visit their first Aussie Rotary Club - very impressed with what the club did for the local community. Then on to Uluru for a spectacular evening display of sunset on the Rock.
On then to Cairns, the Reef and the tropical rainforests of northern Queensland - where it rained of course, warm heavy rain.....
Then they finished up in Sydney for a inspirational conference showing what can be done when people get together with a common goal. This year's theme " Light Up Rotary" was very relevant because even doing one small thing " lighting one candle" is better than doing nothing " sitting in the dark"
Thank you Kim and Sheila for the time you put into the presentation and we found the way Rotary works in Australia very interesting......an organisation to be proud of wherever we live......
