Rotary Young Chef Competition 2025
The Rotary Young Chef Competition continues to give opportunities for aspiring chefs in Cowbridge School to display their culinary skills. Following an elimination round before Christmas, the six best chefs from Year 10 had a chance to show their cooking skills in the club round of the competition on Friday, 10th January.
The task given was to prepare, cook and present a two-course meal for two people with ingredient costs that did not exceed £18. The judge, Rotarian Sîan Whitefield, was looking for tasty, well-presented food but she was also awarding marks for knife skills, planning, presenting on time and maintaining a clean and tidy workspace.
With much difficulty in making the choice, Isabella Jones was declared the runner-up and Lizzie Lewis the overall winner.
The judge commented that, “The standard of the meals prepared gets higher every year and reflects the enthusiasm within the Design & Technology Department of the school.”
Rotary Youth Lead, Stuart McCullouch, presented certificates of participation to all competitors and the winner and runner-up certificates were accompanied by vouchers kindly sponsored by Arthur John & Co.. Further rounds of the competition will culminate in a national final where young chefs from all over Great Britain and Ireland will compete.'What We Do' Main Pages:
