Dan is an Ophthalmologist in the University Hospital of Wales with a subspecialty interest in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery working within a large multi-disciplinary team. He is widely published, including the first carbon footprint of cataract surgery and the highest retinal photographs on Mount Everest.
Dan is Chair of the Ophthalmology Surgical Specialty Board for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is on the Executive Committee of the European Group on Graves’ Orbitopathy, the British Ophthalmic Surveillance Unit, The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine Council and is Treasurer of the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress Council. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for Cardiff University and is the Ophthalmologist to the Welsh Rugby Union, The Football Association of Wales and the British Board of Boxing Control.
Dan is also passionate about world blindness, setting up a trachoma project in Kenya and a local community link in Uganda. In his spare time Dan climbs hills with his family and is a rugby match day doctor.
