Dinner Meeting at the Heronston Hotel

Mon, Jan 26th 2026 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Guest speaker: Mike Richardson of Bridgend Foodbank

Bridgend Foodbank gives emergency food parcels to people who have no money to buy food and provides a menu with the food to help people make nutritious meals. Additionally, they provide access to advice and support through Citizens Advice Bureau and other agencies.

Food donations are received from schools, churches, supermarket collection boxes, local businesses and companies as well as the general public. Money donations enable Foodbank to buy food items they’re short of.

Volunteers use Foodbank’s van to collect donated food, take it to their warehouse and from there to 7 Foodbank centres.

Last year (July 24 – June 25) Foodbank fed about 6200 people including about 2100 children, gave out about 60 food parcels a week (a parcel lasts 3 days). People can use Bridgend Foodbank 3 times.

Terry Moseley gave thanks to Mike for an excellent and informative talk. Rotary Bridgend are delighted to support Bridgend Foodbank, both with financial donations and the contributions of food and other items we collect at our dinner meetings.
