Seven teams took part in the Youth Speaks Competition which was held at Brynteg Comprehensive School in Bridgend.
Senior Competition. The teams were from Brynteg Comprehensive School, Pencoed Comprehensive School and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg, Llangynwyd.
Intermediate Competition. The teams were from Brynteg Comprehensive School, Bryntirion Comprehensive School, Pencoed Comprehensive and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg, Llangynwyd.
President Paul Cheadle was the Master of Ceremonies and welcomed everyone present including the Mayor of Bridgend and Assistant Governor Carol Llewellyn.
The adjudicators were Rtns Mike Lewis, Win Griffiths and Bob Dunlop who kindly replaced Carwyn Jones ( who was very unwell on the day) as an adjudicator. Win Griffiths had a couple of days notice.
Rotarians Brian and Joan Murrell, Barrie Ball, Ceri Griffiths, AG Carol Llewellyn and William Williams asked questions of individual teams.
Rotarian Alan Reeks was the timekeeper and chief photographer.
The team from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg, Llangynwyd won the Senior Competition (photo at top of page) and the Runners Up team were from Pencoed Comprehensive School (above).

The Runners Up team were from Brynteg Comprehensive School.

Rotary Bridgend kindly gave prizes and trophies to the Winners and Runners Up of the Intermediate Teams.

Chair of the Adjudicators Hon Sec. Rev. Mike Lewis gave a short talk about the competition and his experience with public speaking. The pupils were given advice for the future when doing public speaking.
President Paul Cheadle also spoke about the importance of being able to speak publicly in any future careers they may have and thanked those that helped on the day.
