Breakfast Meeting at the Heronston Hotel

Mon, Nov 10th 2025 at 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Guest speaker: Jo Rubery, founder RR81

We were delighted to welcome Jo Rubery, founder of the charity RR81, along with two of the trustees, Kelly Jones and Russell Gower.

RR81 was set up following the tragic death of Rhys Rubery in 2016, aged just 16 and son of Jo and her husband Jonathan and brother to Catrin. “RR” are of course Rhys’ initials while “81” was his hockey shirt number.

Rhys, tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident involving a motorbike while crossing the road in July 2016. Rhys was a bright and talented 16-year-old, who excelled both musically, academically, and in sport. Rhys’ parents are committed to ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire and support others.

The Charity became registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales in June 2024, number 1208870.

RR81’s mission is to provide grants to individuals and groups within education and sport, benefiting schools and the wider community. RR81 has already played an integral role in many schools and parts of the community in the RCT area.

Following an insightful and moving presentation, Jo, Kelly and Russ took questions before being thanked by President Paul Cheadle.
