Grand Fundraising Evening at the Hi-Tide, Porthcawl

Rotary Bridgend held a Grand Fundraising Evening at the Hi-Tide, Porthcawl in support of our three centenary projects at Heronsbridge School, Y Bont and Y Bwthyn Newydd.

142 tickets were sold, exceeding our target of 140, and guests included representatives from all three of our centenary projects, the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough Council, Rotary Porthcawl and Bridgend Soroptimists.

A quick game of Heads or Tails was followed by an excellent three course meal.

President Paul Cheadle then welcomed everyone and encouraged them to part with their cash! A video showing how Rotary Bridgend have helped to support the three projects was shown.  Hopkin Joseph then wonderfully led the auction an auction which raised a wonderful £1,353. This was followed by the raffle draw, organised by Joan and Brian Murrell, which also raised a fantastic sum of £1,211. Our thanks to those organisations and individuals who donated items for the auction and raffle.

The next hour was filled with some excellent entertainment from an Abba tribute band, who had people out of their seats and filling the dance floor, before the DJ rounded off the evening.

Including proceeds from guess the number of balloons in a VW Beetle and guess the number of sweets in the jar, the grand total raised for the three centenary projects was a magnificent £4,600.
