Nine schools took part and adjudicator Carwyn Jones, commented that this year the standard was exceptionally high, which made it difficult to come to a decision.
The evening commenced with Councillor Martyn Jones saying a few words. He also presented the shield that Ffaldau School won last year to President Paul Cheadle. President Paul followed and welcomed everyone and spoke about Rotary and the upcoming centenary of Rotary Bridgend. He also mentioned the charities that the club was going to help as part of the centenary celebrations including Heronsbridge School, Y Bont and Y Bwthyn Newydd.
The winner this year, after some truly excellent talks, was Violet Parr of Tremains Primary School who gave a passionate talk about her love of tennis.
The first runner up was Joshus Dunford from Coety School and the second runner up was Jacob Lamprey, Croesty School.
At the end of the evening, President Paul thanked those that helped that evening, including the pupils from Betws, Blaengarw and Ffaldau schools. who gave out the programmes.
