Junior Youth Speaks

On Tuesday evening, May 21st., Junior Youth Speaks was held at Betws Primary, Bettws, on behalf of Ffaldau Primary. 

Pupils from Ffaldau Primary School handed out the programmes. 

At the start of the evening, the Executive Headteacher of Ffaldau Primary said a few words before handing over the Shield that they had won last year to President Win Griffiths. 

President Win, thanked the Executive Headteacher, Betws Primary and also thanked all that were present, for supporting the event. 

Eleven pupils took part in the competition and they were exceptionally good. 

Following the adjudication summary from Hon. Secretary Mike Lewis, all the  competitors were given certificates by President Win. 

Hon. Secretary Mike announced the three winners. 

The winner was a pupil from Ffaldau Primary whose topic was  “Planet In Crisis – Take Action To Save Our Planet”. 

The first runner up was a pupil from Pencoed Primary and the topic was “Should Money Be Spent on Mars Exploration”. 

The second runner up was a pupil from Coety Primary and the topic was “Flowers”. 

President Win gave prizes to the runners up and presented the winner with a certificate, prize and the Shield. 

Councillor Spanswick gave a vote of thanks. 

The Adjudicators were the following Rotarians: Hon. Secretary Mike, Carwyn Jones and William Williams.

We are grateful to the adjudicators, for being willing to do this difficult job and to Sonja too. Thank you to the Rotarians for attending and to those that helped on the evening,  Eve Bratton and Ceri Griffiths. Thanks also goes to  Hopkin Joseph who brought the banner and set things up; Robin Bratton and William Williams who took photographs.
