International team support the Friends of Monze charity.

The charity aims to improve education, health and wellbeing in the Monze district of Zambia.

In August 2023  Rotary Bridgend donated funds to the Friends of Monze charity (FoM) to provide Happy Readers books for the children of Chicheleko school in the Monze district of Zambia.  Now the Happy Readers books kindly provided by Rotary Bridgend have arrived in Monze.

The books were carried from Zimbabwe to the Zambian capital Lusaka by the British Military Attache at no cost to the charity. They were collected by the chair of the FOM’s partner organisation - the Zambia Women and Girls Foundation. The books are now with the Deputy Head of Chicheleko School.  The schools in Zambia are on holiday until the new school year begins in January so the teachers and children at the school will start to use the books at the beginning of term.

The FoM charity has thanked Rotary Bridgend for its help in improving education for the children at Chicheleko School. The attached photos show the books arriving and the deputy headteacher with books and teaching materials.
