Ten walkers plus Ben the dog met
at Southerndown for a three-and-a-half mile walk from Ogmore beach to Dunraven
on a fossilling foray. We located a variety of fossil corals and brachiopods
before an unplanned clamber over rocks to avoid the 'high low tide'. Alan
earned a Jurassic ammonite for finding several impressive coral fossils
embedded in the limestone.
Several of the group walked on to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast Centre at Dunraven to view the fossil display and historical placards and chat with Paul, one of the Wardens.
Lunch was at West Farm, perched on the cliffs at Southerndown.
