Myndd Y Lambeth above Pencoed and Gilfach Goch

Four ramblers and the ever faithful hound Ben set off on a four mile outing and headed to the heights of Myndd Y Lambeth above Pencoed and Gilfach Goch.

The walk followed part of the ridgeway trail, taking us to the remains of St Peter's Church set on one of the highest points. The views, whilst hazy across the channel, were clear enough to make out the Devon hills and moors. The church is reputed to be the burial place of King Arthur (along with many others). The remains of the 12th Century Church can be seen where his body was allegedly laid to rest. There are several head stones laying within the ruins dating back to the 16th century, when it would have been used by local people for prayer and refuge in bad weather.

The outing ended at the Fox and Hounds, Blackmill, where we were joined by two more Rotarian's. Good food and refreshments were enjoyed by us all.
