Rotary District 1150 Governor Elect Wayne Morgan supplied eleven boxes of Lifestraws to Heronsbridge Special Needs School in Bridgend where they awaited transport to Tanzania. The life straws provide vital water filtration of contaminated water.
The day finally arrived for them to start their long journey on December 14th 2021. Pupils and staff of Heronsbridge school were very happy to assist with the loading.
Rotary Bridgend took up the task of arranging the move by sea to Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania, which will take approximately four weeks. There they will be collected by Rotary Moshi members, and transported to schools in the Kilimanjaro Region for distribution to children and their families.
The financial obstacle in sending such a large quantity of LifeStraws to Tanzania was the transport costs, which was overcome by the generosity of Rotary Brynmawr.
A truly exceptional team effort showing again what Rotary can achieve.
