For the last ramble of 2021 the group travelled a little further afield to the Salmon Leaps Walk at Dinas Powys.
Ten walkers set off from Dinas Powys golf club. After skirting the course we entered the woods with its colourful winter foliage still in abundance. Along the ice age gorge known as Cwm George we passed the base of an iron age hill fort surrounded in garlic plants (a summer special!)
On past the old salmon lakes and through a wooded ravine, following the Wrin stone Brook we climbed up to the highest point above Wrinstone Farm where the channel and hills of Somerset could be seen, despite the low cloud. We then followed a different route back via grassy meadows completing a 5 mile figure eight and a well earned meal and beverage at the Cross Keys Inn at Dinas Powys square.
