Amber gave a very interesting and informative talk about caring in Wales. She explained that there are over 500,000 people, (about 1 in 4 adults) who, unpaid, support a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill. The type of support can range from a few hours a week to caring for someone day and night, all the year round. As a result, carers save the Welsh economy around £8 billion a year!
Amber also explained the partnership arrangement between Rotary and Carers Wales. The partnership aims to make a difference by supporting unpaid carers in the local community, by spreading the word of the important work of both organisations and raising the profile of Rotary and Carers Wales through our volunteering.
