Following an introduction by President William he handed over to Secretary/Compere Mike.
Mike's contribution was the following poem:-
In
March of 2020
Our
World was put on hold
A
virus stalked our Nation
And
it seemed our blood ran cold
We
could not hold our meetings
Amid
the gloom and doom
And
so with many others
Rotarians
met on Zoom
At
first we were not many
And
some found it hard to use
And
some have used technology
As a
feeble lame excuse
But
we at least saw Nick Lewis
From
the splendour of his room
As we
once more joined together
When
Rotarians met on Zoom
Some
had a quick tutorial
On
how to get it on
Tony
Berrow had help from Briony
Who
helped him join the throng
And
some, like Gerry Bassett
Emerged
amidst the gloom
Late,
but yet still welcome
As
Rotarians met on Zoom
Some
had exotic backdrops
Like
Roy's shelves packed tight with books
And
Sonja always took great care
With
hair and light and looks
And
isn\'t it quite interesting
To
see each others rooms
And
catch a glimpse of their knick-knacks
When
Rotarians met on Zoom
Of
course some people's decor
Aint
to everybody's taste
But
we all looked quite presentable
At
least above the waist
We\'ve
seen Gwyn Thomas' forehead
Hopkins'
hair needing a groom
And
Phil Davies' nether regions
When
Rotarians met on Zoom
And
when all this is over
And
we meet and swear like Hell
At
the mediocre fodder
In
the Heronston Hotel
In
the stark and sterile ambience
Of a
chilly Ibis room
ill
we look back with fondness
To
when Rotarians met on Zoom?
We were then entertained by Dr. Graham Hapgood, who had been helped through his lockdown and shielding by his love of music. His piano also welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate yet another of Graham\'s many talents. Tom Green and Cheryl had been patiently waiting for their party pieces. They both performed with enthusiasm. Thank you Cheryl for supporting Tom.
Compere Mike closed the entertainment with one of Cyril Fletcher's (not Harold) "Pin back your lugholes" Odd Odes.
