President's Installation Brian Roberts to Dr William R Williams

The handovert was attended by 23 members, who showed Rotary Bridgend at its best - all were dressed formally, at least as far as anyone could see.   In a formal and meaningful ceremony President Rtn Dr.William R.Williams PHF, President Elect Rtn John McCarthy and President Nominee Rtn Robin Bratton were installed into office.   An inspirational speech by President William concluded with his first official duty, the formal presentation of a Past Presidient\'s Jewel to Imm. Past President Brian.   There followed a healthy mixture of fun and formality, and several toasts to the incoming Presidential Team.

Many congratulations to President William and his team who assumed the mantle of office.  We wish you well and every success in your year in office in these most unusual and difficult pandemic circumstances.

One could hear the sighs of relief from Past President Brian across the town!

Prior to the official handover, at 2 p.m. on 1st July 2020 in a secret location near the Heronston Hotel, a clandestine operation to hand over Rotary Presidential Regalia was arranged.   Our official photographer was included in the operation so that evidence could be collected and subsequently be posted on the Club website.

The operation was a success.   Soon to be new President Rtn Dr.William R.Williams PHF handed the President Elect Jewel to Rtn John McCarthy, who in turn passed to President Nominee Jewel to Rtn Robin Bratton, all whilst maintaining the appropriate social distance.

At a subsequent and equally clandestine meeting in the remote reaches of Coity, outgoing President Rtn Brian Roberts exchanged his Chain of Office for a Past President's Jewel, which was handed over by Incoming President William.
