The Club have given a donation of £500 to the MNDA and Justin very kindly agreed to talk to us about the work of his Committee in supporting MND sufferers and their families with both financial and practical help.
Justin very movingly told us how he had got involved with fundraising, when his good friend Gareth was cruelly diagnosed with MND at the age of 37, and three years later had passed away. Every year for the last seven years he has undertaken long distance cycling, kayaking and walking events (including Everest Base Camp), which have raised in excess of £120,000. This has helped with research for a disease which, as yet, has no known cure.
Justin told us that our donation would be used by the local committee in the Bridgend area, where there are currently nine cases.
There was a very long question and answer session, showing members\' interest in Justin\'s fascinating talk, and also the ongoing success of our Zoom meetings.
Rtn David Hubbard introduced Justin and Rtn Gwyn Thomas gave the vote of thanks, telling us how grateful he was to the MNDA local committee for the support they gave him when his family were deeply affected by the disease.
