Dinner Meeting at the Heronston Hotel

Mon, Jul 27th 2026 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Guest speakers: Chloe Jones & John Jones, Morlais Energy - ‘Anglesey Tidal Renewal Energy Project’

Menter Môn Morlais is a not for profit social enterprise, running a wide range of projects with the sole aim to add value to both local communities and economies.

In some coastal areas the form of the land and seabed causes stronger currents creating energy that can be harnesses to generate electricity. The west coast of Ynys Môn and Ynys Cybi  (Holy Island) is one of these places.

Morlais is Menter Môn's tidal stream energy project. It manages an area of 35Km² of the seabed near Ynys Cybi (Holy Island), Ynys Môn (Anglesey). The scheme has the potential to generate up to 240MW of low carbon clean electricity.

The aim is to play a role in tackling climate change while delivering economic and social benefit to local communities and the wider region.

The Marine Characterisation Research Project has been developed by Menter Môn to enable the Morlais Project from 2022 -2026, supporting the safe implementation of tidal stream devices. An Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan has been developed to safeguard marine wildlife.
