ROTARY PRIMARY YOUTH SPEAK COMPETITION 2025
On 9th December, the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright held their annual Primary Youth Speaks competition at Kirkcudbright Primary School. 14 Pupils entertained the audience of parents, teachers, friends, and Rotarians with excellent presentations on topics they are passionate about. These included, dolphins, wild swimming, protecting the farming industry, Scots poetry, Holbein’s painting ‘The Ambassadors’ and mushrooms.
The three judges were Ken Michie representing the community and Rotarians Morag Smith and John Johnson. Head Judge Morag summarised the entertaining evening and warmly congratulated all the speakers. The judges were very impressed with the confidence and presentation of all the speakers and had a very difficult task in selecting the winners. During the interval, while the Judges made their decisions, refreshments were served before the results were announced and prizes handed out by the President of the Rotary Club, Richard Haslam-Jones.
1st Zara Elliot (Gatehouse Primary) – Scottish Poetry
2nd Ella Fulton (Kirkcudbright Primary) – Hans Holbein’s painting ‘The Ambassadors’
