At Kirkcudbright Primary School on the evening of 15 November, an audience of Parents, Teachers and Rotarians were entertained by Pupils from 5 of the region’s Primary Schools, Kirkcudbright, Borgue, Twynholm, Gatehouse and Auchencairn.
In the Youth Speaks Competition, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright, 13 pupils participated (see group photo) and the talks varied amongst others from the Greek Gods, Holidays, Formula 1 and E1 Motor Racing to Peregrine Falcons.
The Winners, shown with Rotary President Allan Ross, were (L to R) First: Calli - talking on Lambing; 2nd: Rory - talking on My Puppy; Joint 3rd Robyn - talking on Dash the Dog and Lexi talking on the 3Rs Horse Rescue Centre. On announcing the awards, Head Judge, Gordon Cowan, commended all the speakers for their impressive efforts and knowledge of their subjects.
The Prizes were presented by President Allan who commented on the importance of Rotary supporting these young pupils, and giving them the opportunity to speak to a large audience. MC for the Evening, Andy Courtnadge, thanked everyone who helped to make the event a big success.
