Last Tuesday, 12thJune, long serving Kirkcudbright RotarianGavin Scott was made a Paul Harris Fellow. Paul Harris Fellows are recognized in appreciation of the tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherence of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world. A Club member since 1984, Gavin is a Past President, he was Youth Convenor and he has been Club Secretary for the past five years.
This award is sometime given to Rotarians in recognition of their financial contribution to Rotary's own charity butRotary clubs may, from time to time, award the honour to individuals who meet the very high professional and personal standards of service, set forth by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary. For the tremendous service he has given to the Club and to his local community, he was presented with a special certificate, a gold pin and a gold medallion on a blue-and-gold ribbon by Paul Tebay, the current President of Kirkcudbright Rotary Club.
Paul remarked thatGavinis, and has always been, the epitome of calm professionalism. He went on to describe him as being unassuming, dedicated, supportive, and as having a marvellous sense of humour. The Club members were all delighted about this recognition for Gavin and they were clearly all in agreement that Kirkcudbright Rotary Club is indeed very fortunate to have Gavin as a member.
