The Rotary Fair on Twickenham Green is always a popular and well attended annual event for local families and friends each Spring Bank Holiday and we are looking forward to welcoming even more to this year’s event on 25 May.
The fair is a great opportunity for local charities and voluntary organisations to raise awareness in the community and there will also be some local arts and crafts stalls. Other local groups will provide entertainment and there will, of course, be opportunities to buy food and soft drinks.
About fifty charities and voluntary groups are always delighted to talk to visitors about their activities and to display their wares. Always prominent is the charity HANDS, the originators of the fair, with their bright yellow stall, but amongst the other stall holders will be Off The Record, a charity that provides drop-in counselling, information and sexual health service for young people and The Mulberry Centre for cancer care. Park Lane Stables, a Riding for the Disabled Association Centre, where horses can help people and people can help horses, will bring a pony along, so do come and find him or her! The Rotary Club of Teddington and the Hamptons is expected to again provide fun and entertainment for families with their ever-popular Human Fruit machine. These and many other groups will bring not only information but lots of friendly chat and laughter.
The continuous programme of entertainment will feature local bands choral groups and dancers. Almost all musical tastes will be catered for, from Powerjam, a band school for young musicians, to a local choral group. We hope to be welcoming back the charming and colourful Stefania Dance groups.
This is the fourth year that this charity fair has been organised by Rotary and we hope you will find time to visit us at the information stall where we will be delighted to tell you about the opportunities that Rotary clubs provide for friendship and involvement with humanitarian projects both locally and internationally.
