Vineyard Community Centre

The Vineyard Centre is a highly important Community Centre and project for many local people. It aims to meet the needs of those who are in crisis or homeless and provide a welcome and connection to community through the morning drop-in, foodbank, clothing scheme and facilities. The Community Café helps to create links with other organisations and supports programmes to provide opportunities for social community engagement and learning.

On 16th July 2019 we were very pleased to support the Vineyard for the second year for their annual summer barbecue. This enabled the Centre to give out free tickets to 150 guests, who were mostly regular clients and the volunteer staff. They gathered together in the beautiful garden to enjoy a tasty barbecue served by 17 young volunteers from Sky. There was music from a young guitarist named James Fumiya. Mayor Nancy Baldwin used to volunteer at the Centre so it is close to her heart and she joined most of the tables for a chat during the afternoon and gave a warm congratulatory speech at the end. The weather was very hot and we were very glad of the many sun umbrellas providing welcome shade and the continuous supply of cold water and drinks. It was a party that brought everyone together and we were very pleased to have played a part in such a wonderful day.

Christmas 2018 – “Today, our club had got together loads of bagfulls of food including tins of soup, meat and fish, pasta, fruit and custard, sweet treats and all sorts to make up various meals. We also took twenty pantomime tickets for a special treat at the local panto. We wish everyone who enjoys the Vineyard Centre and all the staff and volunteers a very merry Christmas” from TuT Rotary’s Community Lead in 2018.

The Vineyard Centre is a charity providing a drop-in for food for homeless people and those in crisis. It also runs the Richmond foodbank on Monday and Thursday afternoons. The afternoon cafe is a welcoming meeting place for those seeking supportive relationships and a variety of recreational activities, with free wifi and laptop use and large child-friendly garden.
