Dave McIntivey - Amusing anecdotes from a funny firefighter

We had a merry talk from Mr McIntivey, who told us about firefighting in Camden Town in the 60s. It started with an unexpected birth in the watch room and passed through murder, unexploded bombs, leaking canals, horsehair mattresses and dainty cups of tea in Buckingham Palace, and a whole menagerie of escaped animals. Goldie the golden eagle (I remember this from the news!) had a field day in Regents park eating the ducks, and Mr Mcintivey went out to help recapture her. Well, he said, it beats cleaning brass hose couplings in the basement. We learned that searchlights do not hypnotise eagles, whatever zoo keepers may say.
