Speaker: Clare Lawrence (Otakar Kraus Music Trust)

Mon, Mar 19th 2018 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

This week we were pleased to welcome Clare Lawrence, Director of Otakar Kraus Music Trust as our guest speaker. The Otakar Kraus Music Trust (OKMT) is a registered charity, based in Twickenham, which provides music therapy and music projects for children, young people and adults with physical, learning, neurological or psychological difficulties, We have a long association with OKMT so for most of our members it was an update on what the charity is doing.
It was interesting to find out about the recent development of activities like the Music Club for younger children and Music School for children and young adults.
Sadly the day coincided with the funeral of Walter Lobo, the husband of founder Margaret Lobo, who recently passed away and the wake was held at Fulwell Golf Club while our meeting was also taking place there.
Coincidentally Ron Miao, Chair of the Trustees, is swimming on behalf of OKMT in our Charity Swimathon at Teddington Pool this Saturday. We understand he is a strong swimmer and should do well in our sponsored event.
The photo shows Clare with our President Bryan Woodriff and long term supporter and member Barry Buttenshaw.
Further information on the charity can be found at https://www.okmtrust.co.uk/
