Rotary Foundation

.

Foundation is Rotary’s own charity and in 2016/17 it celebrated its centennial anniversary having been started in 1917 by RI President Arch Klumph.

In addition to spearheading Rotary’s campaign to eradicate polio it also provides support in 7 distinct areas – peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development and the environment.

In September 2020 and for several years before, The Rotary Foundation received the highest possible score from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S. for both demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. The ratings reflect how efficiently Charity Navigator believes the Foundation uses donations, how well it has sustained programs and services, and its level of commitment to good governance and openness. After receiving its ninth straight 4star rating Rotary General Secretary John Hewko received a letter from Charity Navigator saying. "Attaining a 4 star rating verifies that The Rotary Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work."

Rotary Foundation also spearheads the campaign for global eradication of polio (Known as Polioplus or End Polio Now)
