Minutes for the Evening Meeting on 26 August 2025 held at

President’s Welcome

  • Present: Pindi Tamana, Keith Smith, Miguele Bocti, Tony Sayer.
  • Visitors: Edward Hall.
  • Apologies: Victor Von Trotha, Iris Pelham, Charles Dotou.

Club Visits/ Other Clubs Contact: Tony and Keith Visited the Kew Gardens Rotary Club. Two members of the Rotary Club of Maple Valley, Washington State, USA, visited the club during the Richmond Green Picnic. A great time was had by all.

Matters to discuss:

  1. Presidents meeting with DG

Plan: Past president Pindi will consult with the Richmond council to determine if a local services fund is available for our use. Still awaiting reply.

  1. ShelterBox Club: Plan: Tony will take the lead with the help of all other club members.

Action: Tony sent an email to the district to try to publicise to other clubs. Some tickets were sold at our Richmond Green Picnic.

  1. Club Finances and 2025-26 Budget: Plan: The club needs to generate money to support its expenses by creating projects either on its own or in collaboration with other clubs.

Action: Keith and Tony attended the Kew Rotary meeting on the 20th August and made connections with members who were enthusiastic about the prospect of collaboration.

  1. Bank Signatories. Plan: Will try to add the club’s president as a signatory. Bank to be decided.
  2. New members: - Actioned: 2 forms for potential members were sent out. Lord Lee’s application was received and unanimously approved.
  3. Holidays: Charles and Iris away – 19,26  August meetings. Tony away 2,9,16 September meetings. He may be able to attend via Zoom.
  4. Fundraising Events
  • Possible advertising at the Nothing Club on 1 September 2025. – Plan: ONGOING
  • ShelterBox Club – Plan: ONGOING
  • Victorian Photographic Studio at the Victoria Foundation Summer Party. 29 October 2025. 19:00 hrs onwards Plan: Ongoing
  1. Local Club contributions to the pitch at Richmond Mayfair (I paid £50) – Plan: Keith will                        request payments from the other clubs
  2. Shooting Star Money – Mix of Cash and electronic. Action: Tony discussed with Charles and Keith. Agreed to donate £150 to Shooting Star.
  3. Internet site: Action: Tony contacted Sue, and the site is now fully functional. Tony added a section advertising the ShelterBox Club.
  4. . Meeting venue – Decisions: Business meetings will be held in the Seminar Room at the Old Town Hall. The last week of every month will be a dinner meeting. Venue to be announced beforehand.
  5. Change of Club’s name: Action: The appropriate forms have been signed and forwarded for processing.

Future events

Club Meetings and Outings

  • 23 August 2025 (Saturday) 12:00 hrs onwards. Picnic and pétanque on Richmond Green. Action: Done and was a great success. Pindi has asked to document that everybody enjoyed the Picnic. To be repeated.
  • 19 August 2025Rotary Meeting – 12:30 – 13:30 hrs. The Seminar Room, Old Town Hall, Richmond.
  • Tuesday 26 August 2025 Rotary Evening Meeting – 19:00 hrs. Action: attended at the Brittania, 5 Brewers Lane, Richmond, TW9 1HH. T: 0208 940 9786
  • Tuesday 2 September 2025. Rotary Meeting CANCELLED due to holidays.

18:45 for 19:30. The Arts Society - E. H. Shepard's artistic exemplified by the Winnie-the-Pooh illustrations, which started shortly after the end of the First World War.

  • Tuesdays 9, 16 and 23 September Rotary Meeting– 12:30 – 13:30 hrs. The Seminar Room, Old Town Hall, Richmond. Action: Booked with the council for all 3 days. Attendees are welcome to bring sandwiches and their preferred drinks, as these are permitted.
  • Tuesday 30 September – Evening Meeting – 7 pm – Venue TBA
  • Sunday 5 October –  Pétanque Tournament, Palewell Park pétanque grounds, Palewell Common Drive, East Sheen, SW14 8RE London.
