Christmas With Epsom Rotary 2024

Christmas activities carried out by the Club over the festive season

CHRISTMAS WITH EPSOM ROTARY

Such a busy time of year for us all and also too for the Club.   We were invited to the light switch-on by Epsom & Ewell BC and held our very successful stall selling mince pies and mulled wine.  A picture shows some of the team at this event.

This is the time of year too when the local street collections around the borough are carried out with Tilly the Train, Santa and friends.  The collections included the usual routes over a number of days,  The routes included Hookfield Area, The Wells Centre, Miles Road and Hazon Way, Langley Vale, Mopsey Crescent Area, Horton Area, College Ward, Woodcote Area, and Parklawn Area. We had two volunteer drivers this year towing Tilly the Train, Clive and Mary Zoeller and various options as our Santa including a Mrs Santa. The Guides also undertook a couple of collection routes to raise funds for themselves. The total in all the collections came to a generous sum over £3,000 which will be donated to charities through the year. A massive thank you to all members and friends who took part in organising and attending.

Alongside the street collections were organised by Diana Deavan school choirs singing Christmas carols and this too raised further charitable funds to the tune of in excess ov £950.

Within the club instead of giving cards to members and friends, donations were collected in aid of Project Wenceslas - which provides funds to support with energy bills.

The Veterans also attended a joint Christmas part with Banstead Veterans Hub which turned out to be an enjoyable time for the Veterans we support with some surprise entertainment, to include a Chelsea Pensioner performing and school choir .
