Veterans Poppy Factory Trip
On Monday the 7th October Epsom and Ewell Veterans Club visited the Poppy Factory in Richmond Upon Thames. The trip which included lunch and coach travel was which was organised by Epsom and Ewell Royal British Legion and Epsom Rotary Club who together run the Veterans Club in Welbeck Road, Ewell.
The Poppy Factory curator Cheryl described how The Remembrance tradition was established soon after the First World war and we were able to see the production team at work creating the Remembrance Wreaths that are laid each November.
We all got the chance to make a poppy with the help of the factory team and look at the exhibition including the Royal Wreaths that are designed for Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camila and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
A roast lunch at the Rose of York, Petersham Road, which was enjoyed by all.
As you can see the trip was well attended by 42 club members their carers and family plus volunteers from the organisers.
If you would like any information about the Epsom and Ewell Veterans Club which meets monthly or their activities which take place every month, to include archery and model making please contact our Club.
